Media Making Change newsroom training is for journalists and media professionals in the Northern Territory looking to better understand and prevent violence against women in their reporting.

The media is a powerful driver of social change and can positively influence the culture, behaviours and attitudes that drive violence against women and their children. The media can change the widespread condoning of violence against women by reporting accurately, safely and respectfully.

About this webinar

This training provides participants with an introductory overview of violence against women, including what drives it and the media’s role in preventing it. It outlines good practice reporting on violence against women, including using evidence-based framing and language, relevant sources and help lines, as well as culturally safe reporting.

This session will include an opening address from the CEO of Women's Safety Services of Central Australia (WoSCCA) Larissa Ellis and is an open session for media based in Northern Territory. Media Making Change newsroom training is presented by a trained facilitator from Our Watch.

Please note the time of this webinar in local (NT) time is 1.30-3.00pm ACST.
