Governance specialist Jeremy Leong has been appointed to the board of Our Watch.
Mr Leong comes with a wealth of governance, risk and compliance experience in the international banking sector both in Australia, APAC and in the UK.
Mr Leong is the Chief Risk Officer and Head of Compliance at Taishin International Bank, Brisbane. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia, former Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore’s Financial and Fintech Committee, and was a Top 10 Outstanding Achiever in the Governance Top 100 Awards 2023.
Our Watch Chair, Moo Baulch, said the organisation is delighted to have someone as highly skilled and experienced as Mr Leong to join the Our Watch Board.
“Jeremy comes with important governance and risk experience, which are crucial skills when an organisation like Our Watch is trusted with public funds.”
“As a seasoned leader in corporate governance and business operations Jeremy’s extensive experience will be an asset to the Our Watch board”.
Mr Leong said he was pleased to be taking up the appointment and highlighted his personal commitment to the issue.
“I was explaining violence against women and their children to my school-age girls recently, and the probability it was something they could experience in the not-too-distant future. It’s preventable, and something I want to change not just for them, but for everyone”.
Mr Leong takes up the board position as the Honourable Jacquie Petrusma steps down after being elected to Tasmanian Parliament.
“Ms Petrusma has been a long-term champion for equality and her experience across business, government and the not-for-profit sector has been greatly valued,” Ms Baulch said.
“We wish Jacquie all the best with her return to Parliament and thank her for her exceptional contribution to Our Watch”.
