This submission emphasises the need for a clear articulation of and commitment to the prevention of violence against women, to reaffirm Australia’s international obligations under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

Recommendations include clear commitments to primary prevention actions that address the gendered drivers of violence against women – including commitments to gender-responsive budgeting, and education initiatives that promote the realisation of women’s rights as human rights – underpinned by an intersectional approach.
