    Our Watch welcomes the opportunity to provide this submission in response to the Statutory Review of the Online Safety Act 2021 (Cth) Issues Paper.

    In line with Our Watch’s expertise and evidenced-based frameworks, this submission addresses consultation questions 16 and 29 from the Issues Paper, grounding responses in the primary prevention of violence against women and their children.

    Digital and online settings are places where the expressions of gender inequality shown to be most consistently associated with higher levels of men’s violence against women are reproduced and perpetuated. This submission explores opportunities for primary prevention in digital and online settings.
